This role:

The Purchasing Specialist works closely with manufacturing (and support groups) to place orders and support operations. The Specialist shares responsibility for maintaining supplier relationships that facilitate procurement of sufficient inventory while at the same time monitoring inventory turns and aging material to meet established company goals. This role reports to a Purchasing Manager.

The responsibilities:



  • Obtain quotes and pricing information from vendors
  • Perform queries for supplier and part information in JDE
  • Maintain cost savings and appropriate inventory levels
  • Create part numbers
  • Interpret materials resource planning tool and place orders (includes stock and client-dedicated; and assigned commodity)
  • Manage inventory to meet inventory turns and reduction of aged inventory goals
  • Conduct annual price/cost analysis
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies such as duplicate shipments, incorrect quantity, receipt issues and pricing related to Purchase Orders
  • Ensure all Purchase Order paperwork is correct and sufficient for accounting functions
  • Liaison between Receiving and vendors who come on site to ensure all issues are resolved
  • Identify improvements in current work methods or systems and develops well thought-out action plans to implement and reduce procurement costs, eliminate non-value-added activities, and unnecessary costs



Required qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED required. Some college or Associate Degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years inventory/purchasing or related experience required
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience and/or ability to use enterprise software (i.e., D365, Documentum, Trackwise, etc.)



Physical / safety requirements:



  • Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends.
  • Position requires sitting for long hours, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
  • Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required.
  • Duties may require occasional lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 20 lbs
