As a Security Officer - Shelter Perimeter Rounds in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will communicate clearly with residents and staff, document observations, respond to calls for assistance, and support site policies with professionalism and respect. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to residents, staff, visitors, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts and coordinating with on-site staff and/or emergency services as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter property, including interior common areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas as applicable; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
• Control access by monitoring entrances, checking identification and/or authorization, and directing visitors to the appropriate areas in accordance with site procedures.
• Monitor and report unusual activity, policy violations, and/or maintenance concerns, and communicate observations to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
• Complete patrol logs, incident reports, and shift documentation with clear, timely details in accordance with Allied Universal requirements.
• Assist with crowd management during high-traffic periods, resident intakes, and/or community service events to help support orderly movement and operations.
• Operate site equipment such as radios, phones, key control systems, and/or cameras if assigned, and report malfunctions or suspicious activity per procedure.
• Provide visible presence to help to deter inappropriate behavior and/or unauthorized access while maintaining a professional, respectful demeanor with a trauma-informed approach.
• Follow post orders and coordinate with shelter staff regarding special instructions, resident support activities, and/or restricted areas while maintaining confidentiality expectations.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
