Job Description




As a Security Officer - Data Center Patrol in Sioux Falls, SD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer at a fast-paced tech, media, and telecom location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will communicate clearly with employees and visitors, document observations, and respond to issues with a customer-service mindset. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and contractors by carrying out Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a tech, media, and/or telecom location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility, offices, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Control access at designated entry points by checking identification, verifying authorization, and directing visitors to the appropriate areas per site procedures.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or access control systems when assigned, and report irregularities according to post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, requesting assistance from site leadership and/or public emergency services as needed.
  • Complete detailed written reports of daily activity, incidents, and observations, and communicate relevant information during shift briefings and/or post transitions.
  • Provide escorts for visitors, contractors, and/or employees when requested and authorized, including after-hours access support.
  • Assist with traffic and pedestrian flow during peak arrivals, departures, and special events, helping to reduce congestion and support orderly operations.
  • Perform routine checks of doors, gates, critical rooms, and loading areas to help to deter unauthorized entry and to identify maintenance concerns for reporting.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, severe weather actions, and medical response by following site directions and documenting actions taken.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
