Job Description




As a Security Officer - School Main Office in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Front Desk Officer at a leading education location, you will be the welcoming first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You will manage access procedures, monitor entry activity, support incident reporting, and communicate clearly with campus partners to help reduce security-related concerns. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an educational location.
  • Staff the front desk area, greet and direct visitors, answer phones and/or respond to inquiries, and provide general information per site guidelines.
  • Help to manage access to the facility by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, maintaining visitor logs, and coordinating sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and access control systems from the front desk, and report unusual activity according to post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including supporting medical response calls, fire alarms, and facility emergencies as directed by site procedures.
  • Communicate with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership regarding security-related concerns, service requests, and incident notifications.
  • Complete written and electronic reports such as incident reports, shift activity logs, and visitor documentation with clear, accurate details.
  • Provide guidance on location policies such as prohibited items, after-hours access, and event check-in procedures, and assist with queue and lobby management as needed.
  • Coordinate with local responders and/or campus personnel during incidents by providing directions, access support, and timely updates.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused presence at the front desk, and help to promote a welcoming environment while supporting security-related operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
