Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Patrol in Summerville, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols, and remain visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will support access control points, communicate clearly with site teams, and deliver customer-focused assistance. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, drivers, contractors, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a logistics and distribution setting.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including notifications to site leadership and Allied Universal management as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of warehouse areas, trailer yards, entry points, loading docks, and building perimeters to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access control points and verify credentials for inbound and outbound traffic, including pedestrian and vehicle entry and/or exit.
  • Perform vehicle and/or trailer checks as directed by location procedures, observing for irregularities and reporting concerns through the established chain of command.
  • Monitor alarm panels, cameras, and other monitoring systems when assigned, and report unusual activity according to location procedures.
  • Document patrols, incidents, and daily activities in written and/or electronic logs with clear, accurate, and timely information.
  • Assist with traffic control in yard and dock areas during peak shipping and receiving periods, following location procedures and posted signage.
  • Support loss prevention efforts by observing for policy violations, damaged seals, forced entry indicators, and/or other anomalies, then escalating concerns per location procedures.
  • Coordinate with onsite personnel and responding agencies during incidents, providing directions and site information as needed.
  • Maintain a professional presence, follow post orders, and comply with Allied Universal standards while working in varying warehouse and outdoor conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
