About the role:

As a Cost Manager - Advanced Reactors, you will lead the full lifecycle cost management discipline for Advanced Reactors programs. You will establish product cost models, driving design to cost decision-making, and supporting accurate program baselines. The position partners with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, program management, and finance to translate technical requirements into accurate, defensible cost structures across development, prototyping, pilot build-up.

You will manage cost development for reactor modules and subsystems. The subsystems include, for example, power conversion, instrumentation and controls. Additionally, you will cover cost development for fuel handling, auxiliary equipment, and site integration. This cost development supports multiple business activities, including bids, make buy decisions, investment cases, and customer pricing strategies.

You will report to the Chief Technology Officer. You will be hybrid based in Cranberry, PA.



Key Responsibilities:

Cost Strategy & Governance

Develop standardized cost frameworks and work breakdown structures (WBS) for Advanced Reactors hardware, software, services, and site work.

Establish cost governance, version control, and traceability across estimates, baselines, and change orders.

Lead periodic cost reviews and gate readiness for program milestones.

Estimate & Model

Develop bottom-up estimates (BOM, routing, labor standards, tooling, special processes) and top down/parametric models using historical, industry benchmarks, and design complexity drivers.

Create should cost analyses for main commodities (e.g., high temperature alloys, machining, specialized components).

Model NPI learning curves, yield improvement trajectories, and capacity/throughput scenarios for pilot and scaled production.

Design to Cost & Value Engineering

Partner with engineering to define cost targets by subsystem and perform cost trade-off analyses.

Facilitate DFM/DFA workshops and measure cost impacts of design changes.

Supplier & Manufacturing Integration

Work with Supply Chain to support cost assessments, target pricing, and supplier negotiations.

Validate manufacturing routings, cycle times, and test operations with Operations and Quality, including special process costs and nuclear-grade QA requirements.

Program Controls & Forecasting

Integrate cost models with program schedules and earned value metrics; maintain Estimates at Completion (EACs) and cost risk/opportunity registers.

Provide executive-ready dashboards and scenario analysis (e.g., sourcing strategy, insource vs. outsource, schedule acceleration).

Compliance & Auditability

Ensure cost data and documentation meet audit-ready standards for government and commercial customers.

Uphold nuclear industry expectations for traceability and configuration control



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 8+ Years of experience
  • Stochastic modeling
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Demonstrated expertise with shouldcost modeling, parametric estimation, and detailed manufacturing cost builds.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP and PLM systems.
  • Analytical rigor
  • Influence and facilitation



We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $130,400 to $163,000 per year.
