HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineer for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Kansas City MO, Springfield MO, or Saint Louis MO. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This person will be responsible for the design of facilities-related sites in support of a variety of markets including Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Federal and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. Experience in site development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound civil site designs. Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Site Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Design and plan production for general civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities
  • Perform quantity calculations
  • Prepare specifications and contract documents
  • Conduct permitting with Jurisdictional Authorities
  • Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Function as Project Manager or Project Engineer as needed
  • Oversee work of other professionals and technicians as needed
  • Prepare/Review civil engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates for proposals
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D or other applications (Navisworks, InfraWorks, MicroStation and OpenRoads)
  • Ability to mentor and teach skills to others
  • Advanced understanding of all discipline relations and site civil design
  • Strong knowledge of storm modeling software such as Hydraflow Storm Sewers, Hydraflow Hydrographs, HydroCAD, StormCAD, SSA, Hecras, or similar software
  • Local candidates are preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in general civil engineering
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
