Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for Lead Composite Technician A to join our Mechanical and Paint team based in Columbus, MS.

You will be one of the eads assigned sections and performs assigned work in support of the aircraft production line. This position is responsible for the execution of all composite activity within assigned area. Delegates and performs inspection of delegated composite work. Drives work performance of the technicians in the assigned area to ensure schedule and hour's goals are met. Raises issues and communicates/works to resolve daily challenges with all other departments.

It's here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your challenges:

Team Leadership: 50%

  • Ensure compliance with FAA, company policy, OSHA, safety and environmental regulations.

  • Assess schedule dates taking into account parts, technician availability and collaborate with the supervisor accordingly.

  • Assist with planning and prioritize the workload of the assigned section to ensure on time delivery of aircraft according with the delivery schedules.

  • Control, assign workforce and monitor workflow according to schedules.

  • Assist supervisor in drumbeating the section activity in order to reach (OTD) On Time Delivery.

  • Raise any identified risk of not meeting a delivery date for an order of the assigned section supervisor following the defined communication process

  • Identify missing components that could prevent to meet a delivery date and work on solutions.

  • Define when is the latest day we could receive the latest part in order to still meet the committed date.

Technical : 30%

  • Provide Technical Expertise and Recommendations in support of all aircraft composite installations.

  • Perform composite aircraft work.

  • Inspect completed composite work.

  • Perform rework as required.

Documentation/Compliance: 20%

  • Use and interpret various forms of Aircraft Documentation in order to complete electrical work.

  • Engineering Drawings

  • Fiche Technique

  • Work Orders

  • Vendor drawings and documentation

  • Aircraft Maintenance Manual

  • Part certification paperwork (EASA/FAA)

  • Testing Procedures

  • Support management (Manager and Supervisor) in providing feedback on workload/capacity adequacy.

  • Support management (Manager and Supervisor) in identifying training needs in order to adjust capacity to workload.

  • Guide aircraft technicians and provide performance expectations within assigned area.

  • Train assigned technicians regarding techniques of work performance within assigned area.

  • Make sure training Matrix is updated for the technicians in their section.

  • Attend regular routine meetings and report relevant section activity or issues.

  • Approve timecards when required.

  • Perform supervisor functions in absence when required.

Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of composite experience with two (2) of the eight (8) as a senior technician or equivalent. Preferred:

  • Minimum ten (10) years composite experience.

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:

  • None

Preferred:

  • FAA Power plant or Airframe and Power plant certificate or equivalent

Travel Required:

  • Less than 10% Domestic and International

Citizenship:

  • US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite: 90%

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Daily

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Once or Twice per year

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
