Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Systems Engineer - Gravity Offloader and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Systems Architecture & Integration Projects section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five (5) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**


Duties And Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include:

This position supports a next-generation reduced gravity simulator robot: exploration EVA Simulator (AXES). Duties will include:

  • Responsible for the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans.
  • Responsible for procedure development (test, assembly, and operations).
  • Prepare materials for the system life cycle phasing and requirements reviews.
  • Identify risks, develop risk statements, and plans risk responses.
  • Support Test and Verification (T&V) activities.
  • Track and organize materials for project meetings and reviews (i.e. System Acceptance Review, Operational Readiness Review).
  • Identify and engage with stakeholders.
  • Frequently perform hands-on hardware testing.
  • Report to NASA project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.
  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned.
  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

REQUIRED :

  • BS degree in Systems Engineering from an accredited engineering school and at least five (5) years of experience.
  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of hardware.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

PREFERRED :

  • Experience with NASA JSC Engineering processes.
  • Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including Verification and Validation documents.
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.
  • Working knowledge of NASA and JSC standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.
  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and typical systems engineering products.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
