Summary of Position

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Detailer/Drafter to join our growing team in York, PA. The Detailer/Drafter is responsible for generating detailed shop drawings for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, plate weldments and mechanical components as needed for our heavy industrial market sector. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience and must be willing and capable of working in a collaborative setting with the fabrication team.

A successful candidate should possess an Engineering degree, a CAD Technology degree or background with applicable drafting experience, strong computer skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Typical Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Read and interpret complex construction and mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Receive project drawings and develop detailed fabrication and erection drawings for approval.
  • Develop and respond to RFI's as needed during detailing phases.
  • Interact with project management staff and shop foreman to develop details to optimize both shop and field productivity.
  • Compile review comments and issue for fabrication drawings.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude for reverse engineering.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Extreme attention to detail and experience with tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • Technical Education certificate or Associate Degree in CAD or related Engineering field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a structural and misc. metals detailer.
  • Knowledge of AISC Standards and Industrial codes and symbols.
  • Must be familiar with 3D modeling and detailing software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes and material handling equipment is preferred.
