| Position Highlights |
Parking and Transportation Services is looking for on-call Parking Event Monitors to join the team. This position provides a variety of services to ensure safe, accessible, reliable and sufficient parking and transportation services and traffic control to the University community and guests during events on campus. Some of the events include, but are not limited to football games, basketball games, Festival of Books, and shows at Centennial Hall. This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, perform light to moderate physical tasks associated with event operation. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Assists
students, faculty, staff and guests with parking locations and directs traffic during events. - Position
acts as a fee collector for designated parking areas. - May
drive a golf cart to transport Parking Event Monitors, signage, and safety equipment like flashlights and vests to and from events. - Performs
basic maintenance on golf carts after events such as oil and tire checks. - May be
assigned to check in and check out Parking Event Monitors to track hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge
of event layouts, parking lot design, and designated entry/exit routes. - Familiarity
with customer service practices when assisting the public. Basic understanding of conflict resolution techniques. - Ability
to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely and efficiently. - Ability
to remain calm and professional in fast-paced, high-stress situations. - Ability
to enforce parking rules tactfully and consistently. - Ability
to follow instructions and adapt to last-minute changes in event logistics.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability
to stand for long periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions; Extreme Cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for more than an hour. Extreme Heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for more than an hour. - Ability
to handle lifting (e.g., cones, barriers, signage); Lifting/moving/transporting up to 20 pounds often. Lifting/moving/transporting up to 30 pounds rarely. - Must
be able to communicate in a noisy environment with multiple distractions and provide clear and safe verbal and non-verbal directions to visitors quickly and kindly.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- At least one year work or volunteer experience in events such as concerts, sporting events graduation, parking attendant or other large gatherings.
- At least one year customer service experience.
- Experience using radios, mobile devices/tablets, or event related communication technology to support coordination and information exchange.
