We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Data Governance Analyst & Steward to establish and uphold rigorous data governance practices that enable SCRI's oncology research operations to rely on consistent, accurate, compliant data. The Sr. Data Governance Analyst & Steward is responsible for ensuring that SCRI's critical data assets are welldefined, highquality, trusted, compliant, and effectively used across the research and clinical enterprise. The role blends data governance execution, business data stewardship, and data quality oversight, acting as both a subjectmatter expert and liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Governance Framework Execution

  • Implement and maintain SCRIaligned data governance policies, standards, and controls.

  • Ensure adherence to Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) guidelines.

  • Participate in governance councils, stewardship forums, and related governance committees.

  • Communicate governance priorities, risks, and performance metrics to leadership

Critical Data Element (CDE) and Business Data Stewardship

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for oncology or researchrelated data domains.

  • Understand SCRI data needs and business processes.

  • Ensure consistent and compliant data usage across the organization.

  • Promote the use of standardized definitions, reference data, and sound data practices

  • Identify and maintain the list of CDEs within the domain; ensure ownership, lineage, and quality controls are in place.

Metadata Management

  • Define, curate, and maintain business metadata, glossaries, and data definitions.

  • Develop and maintain critical data element (CDE) documentation and classifications.

  • Maintain metadata in the enterprise catalog (e.g., Alation) to improve discoverability and clarity.

Data Quality Oversight

  • Create and maintain proactive and reactive data quality rules.

  • Profile data and define business rules for specific domains.

  • Review and monitor data quality dashboards/scorecards.

  • Identify, log, triage, and resolve data quality issues; oversee remediation and cleanse activities.

  • Maintain data quality issue repository and ensure timely resolution

Data Lineage, Cataloging & Accessibility

  • Document endtoend lineage of data assets, including sourcetotarget flows and transformations.

  • Partner with engineering, BI, and architecture teams to ensure accurate lineage and system inventory

Data Literacy & Awareness

  • Support organizational efforts to promote data literacy, governance awareness, and sound data practices.

  • Contribute to training materials and educational content related to governance, metadata, and data quality.

Knowledge: A body of information needed to perform tasks; May be obtained through education, training or experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Organizational Management, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Deep knowledge of data governance, stewardship, metadata management, and data quality practices.

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Steward or Business Systems Analyst, preferably in healthcare industry.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare and oncology data (preferred or required).

  • Experience in data governance, data stewardship, data quality, or data management disciplines

  • Experience with regulatory environments (HIPAA/PHI/PII, SOX)

Skills: The proficiency to perform a certain task.

  • Proficiency with data catalog tools (e.g., Alation), metadata management, and SQL

  • Familiarity with metadata, data quality, stewardship, and compliance tools

  • High business acumen with the ability to navigate ambiguity and complex environments

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Capability to operate independently, influence stakeholders, and navigate complexity.

Abilities: An underlying, enduring trait useful for performing duties.

  • Ability to influence diverse groups and drive data governance adoption

  • Comfort working in matrix environments across business and technical teams

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exposure to analytics, AI/ML data preparation, data lineage tools, and enterprise data platforms

  • Selfstarter with entrepreneurial mindset

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Organizational Management, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Steward or Business Systems Analyst, preferably in healthcare industry.

  • Deep knowledge of data governance, stewardship, metadata management, and data quality practices.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare and oncology data.

  • Experience in data governance, data stewardship, data quality, or data management disciplines

  • Experience with regulatory environments (HIPAA/PHI/PII, SOX)
