EEG Technologist PRN

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. EEG Technologist works under the supervision of the Critical Care Director to provide EEG services to properly identified patients of all ages. Responsibilities include preparation of patients, the conduction of various neuro diagnostic procedures and the collection of data relevant to the interpretation of the tests. Performs routine and complex neuro diagnotic testing as ordered by the physician, adapting appropriate methods and instrumentations to obtain optimal results. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Duties:

  • Assures that all EEG procedures are provided to properly identified patients of all ages according to ARMC policy and procedure
  • Able to perform all EEG services with a high degree of quality and skill: EEG, EMG, evoked potentials, surgical monitoring
  • Assures that patient charges and billing are timely and accurate resulting in a clean patient bill
  • Knowledgeable and current on the current HIS
  • Coordinates scheduling with other departments to minimize inconvenience to the patient and to maximize productivity and workflow
  • Accurately assesses patients and situations for nursing and physician intervention and notifies staff immediately
  • Assures that EEG services are delivered within acceptable timeframes
  • Routes reports and interpretations to physicians and nursing in a timely manner
  • Assist in evaluation of new supplies and equipment while using supplies in a cost effective manner
  • Recommends cost-saving ideas
  • Maintains flexible schedule to allow for surgical monitoring and outpatient volume

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education requirements: Must be a graduate of an accredited program for EEG technologists or equivalent.

Work experience requirements: At least 1 year of experience in EEG.

Required licenses/ certifications/courses Registered by the American Board for Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET) preferred.

Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Able to work independently with limited supervision
