Job Summary:
We are seeking a technically experienced and motivated Product Sales Manager to drive and grow the sales of our topsoil and compost products in the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area. The ideal candidate will have a strong existing network within the landscaping, construction and engineering sectors and a proven track record of building relationships and closing deals. A background in manufacturing engineered soils to meet required specifications is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Sales and Business Development:

    • Drive sales and revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and managing key accounts within the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area.
    • Leverage your existing network of industry contacts to generate leads and close sales for topsoil and compost products.
    • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow the customer base and strengthen the company's market presence.


  • Customer Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate long-term relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
    • Provide personalized solutions to meet client needs, advising them on the best products (topsoil and compost) for specific applications.
    • Address customer concerns or issues promptly to ensure a seamless experience.


  • Product Knowledge and Consultation:

    • Stay current on the company's topsoil and compost offerings, understanding how different blends or formulations can be used for various landscaping, horticultural, and construction applications.
    • Educate customers on the benefits of using high-quality topsoil and compost for soil health, plant growth, and erosion control.
    • Preferred: Knowledge of how to manufacture engineered soils to meet specific customer requirements or environmental standards, such as MDOT and SHA certifications, pH levels, nutrient content and other parameters.




  • Market Research and Reporting:

    • Stay informed about competitive products, pricing, and market conditions.
    • Track sales performance and report monthly to the management team on sales metrics, pipeline status, and customer feedback.
    • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to stay connected within the industry.


  • Order and Delivery Coordination:

    • Work with the operations and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery and/or movement of products.
    • Manage client orders from initial inquiry to final delivery, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the process.




Required Qualifications:



  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience in the landscape supply and/or construction materials industry, with a focus on topsoil and compost sales.
    • Proven track record of driving sales and managing a portfolio of accounts in the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area.
    • Strong existing network of contacts in the landscaping, horticulture, construction and municipal sectors.


  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities independently.
    • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple accounts and sales processes simultaneously.
    • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and results-driven.
    • Proficiency with NetSuite software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales tools.


  • Industry Knowledge:

    • In-depth knowledge of topsoil and compost products, including their specifications, uses, and benefits.
    • Preferred: Knowledge of how to manufacture engineered soils to meet specific customer requirements, such as pH, texture, nutrient balance, and SHA certifications.
    • Familiarity with local environmental regulations and soil health standards in the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area.


  • Other Requirements:

    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Willingness to travel throughout the region as needed.
