A Day In The Life The Accountant II maintains General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. The Accountant II will provide general accounting services including but not limited to, journal entries; account reconciliations; data analysis; internal/external audit request and special projects.
As a Accountant II you will:
- Performs monthly tasks required to close the general ledger in a timely manner.
- Prepare timely and accurate Journal Entries - maintain well documented work papers for entries.
- Provide variance explanations on a monthly basis to explain actual results to the budgeted results.
- Prepare account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, accruals and prepaid expenses.
- As part of the reconciliation process, review the reasonableness of balance sheet and income statement accounts in order to determine that all necessary entries have been recorded.
- Assume full ownership of assigned areas and processes including understanding how key business drivers impact these areas of responsibility.
- Assist with Internal and External audit requests, including preparation of year-end financial reports.
- Research and resolve accounting transaction questions and issues in an agreed upon timeframe.
- Ensure desk top procedures for journal entries and reconciliations are reflective of current process.
- Make recommendations to enhance and/or streamline accounting processes and workflow efficiencies.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year College or University Req and
- and a minimum of 2+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required
- Strong organizational skills, attention to details and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines
- Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good-record-keeping
- High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
- Participate in continuous improvement teams to enhance and/or streamline accounting processes
- Proficient in effective communication (both oral and written)
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Thrives in environments where goals, processes or strategies may not be clearly defined
- Strong Excel skills, including data validation and complex formula-based calculations
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues in SAP and ERP environment
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred
Physical Requirements The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
Travel Requirements 20% Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis). The associate is occasionally required to travel to other sites, including out-of-state, where applicable, for business.
