The Donor Tech Lead supports the Blood Donor Center through blood donor qualification and collection and blood component preparation. This position directs day to day activities and assists in the supervision of the donor techs and serves as a liaison with leadership.

Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 6:00am-4:30pm (4-10's) on our Donor Center team. Will work 2 evening shifts per month, and may cover other shifts depending on staffing needs. Some holidays will be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Accurately qualifies donors for apheresis (center operations only) or whole blood donations.
- Performs all Blood Collection and Laboratory functions according to SOP direction, FDA requirements and the guidelines established by accrediting agencies.
- Perform whole blood and apheresis collections (center operations only) optimizing collection productivity while ensuring donor safety and product quality, purity and potency.
- Takes preventative action, recognizes and responds appropriately to adverse reactions to blood donations.
- Performs post blood collection product processing.
- Provides exceptional customer care to internal and external customers. Initiates service recovery where appropriate.
- Leads special projects such as, validations, teaching, training, observations.
- Teaches and/or trains new employees, students and other health care professionals in a satisfactory fashion when requested. Mentors coworkers.
- Directs day to day activities and assists in the supervision of the donor techs and serves as a liaison with leadership.
- Initiates and performs procedure review and writing, and actively participate in process improvement activities.
- Performs competency assessments.
- May operates motorized equipment to transport people, materials and equipment. Participates in maintenance and upkeep of all equipment, vehicles and supplies used during mobile blood drive operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degrees
- High School diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE - Strong emphasis on excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Three years of experience as a donor technician.
CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers / CPR within 6 months of hire. Possession of a current and valid driver's license. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements must be obtained within 3 months of start date.
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $21.35 to $32.03
