LV Design & Release Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL

Pay: $36.67 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage (LV) Design & Release Engineer to support the design, development, validation, and production release of vehicle wiring harnesses. In this role, you will own wiring harness systems from concept through launch, ensuring designs meet cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.

You'll work cross-functionally with manufacturing, suppliers, quality, and vehicle teams to drive robust electrical designs, resolve build and warranty issues, and support continuous improvement across vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Wiring Harness Design & Development



  • Design and release low-voltage electrical distribution system (EDS) wiring harnesses
  • Ensure designs meet program targets for cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing
  • Apply best practices for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and failure-mode avoidance
  • Drive design commonality across multiple vehicle programs and platforms


Vehicle Build & Issue Resolution



  • Participate in vehicle builds and lead issue resolution through AIMS
  • Review pre-production vehicles to identify potential campaign risks and assess warranty impact
  • Lead resolution of warranty issues (GSAR) in collaboration with PVT teams and suppliers
  • Support EDS Vehicle Response Team (VRT) in resolving high-impact internal and customer issues


Engineering Change & Program Support



  • Develop data-driven business cases for engineering changes
  • Lead engineering changes from initial concept through production launch
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and robust implementation



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Hands-on experience with low-voltage or high-voltage wiring harness design
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, including routing, connectors, terminals, and packaging


Preferred Qualifications



  • Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical and wiring systems
  • Experience using Teamcenter or similar CAD/PLM tools to review harness routing and designs
  • Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills
