JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems at Penn State University Park invites applications for three part-time Technical Research & Analysts to start January 2026. The successful candidates will develop and evaluate data-driven assets for departmental projects. This role requires a blend of technical scripting, hands-on AI work, and analytical research to measure the efficacy of new digital workflows. The successful candidates may expect an average of 8 hours of work per week throughout the regular academic calendar.

Job Duties

  • AI Prototyping & Testing:Use Generative AI and AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs) to build, test, and troubleshoot technical assignments and business logic.
  • Data Engineering:Develop and anonymize synthetic or public datasets (Kaggle, Open Data) for project use-cases.
  • Technical Research:Design and clean surveys to track user confidence and evaluate the performance of AI-augmented tasks.
  • Content Development:Create polished technical documentation, including prompt-engineering guides and software screenshots.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled Penn State graduate student
  • AI & Logic:Proficiency in prompt engineering and auditing AI-generated code.
  • Technical Fluency:Intermediate knowledge of SQL, Python, and data visualization.
  • Research Literacy:Experience with survey data collection and basic data cleaning.

Compensation

The starting rate for this position is $18.00 per hour.
