Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Shelter Patrol Driver in San Antonio, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an armed patrol officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with calm, clear communication. This post requires an Armed Guard Card or License and a valid driver's license, supporting mobile patrols and quick assistance where needed. Must pass a Physical Fitness Exam (1 mile run: 12 minutes, 22 sit ups & 12 push ups)

Pay Rate: $21.00 / Hour

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to staff, residents, and visitors by following site-specific security-related procedures, access control requirements, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Carry and use assigned authorized equipment in accordance with applicable laws, post orders, and Allied Universal policies; maintain required qualifications and documentation for an armed post.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; document actions taken and notify site leadership and/or emergency services as required.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of interior and exterior areas, including common spaces, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
  • Complete detailed reports and logs, monitor alarms and/or cameras when assigned, and communicate observations to Allied Universal management and site contacts to help to deter unwanted activity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • An armed guard card/license is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton are preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
