Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Capitol Patrol in Richmond, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal at a government location as an armed patrol officer, monitoring and patrolling assigned areas to help support a secure environment. You will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and respond to situations with calm professionalism. Bring strong communication and customer service skills while working with a team that values integrity, agility, reliability, and innovation, in a people-first culture.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors and staff at a government location by following site-specific procedures, access requirements, and security-related policies.
  • Perform armed foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter routes at random and scheduled intervals to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Respond to alarms, disturbances, and other incidents in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with site representatives and emergency services as directed.
  • Control entry and exit points by verifying identification, screening authorized access, monitoring surveillance and/or intrusion systems, and directing visitors to appropriate areas.
  • Document patrol activity, incidents, and unusual conditions in written reports and logs, maintaining chain-of-custody for evidence and following Allied Universal and site weapons handling and storage requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
