DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will support the Forest Maintenance Supervisor in various activities related to maintenance, forest fire management, recreation, and overall management within the Waterville Maintenance Division. This role may involve temporary assignments to other District Maintenance Divisions as necessary. Responsibilities include maintaining State Forest facilities, equipment, and tools, operating machinery, performing manual labor when equipment is not in use, and executing additional State Forest operations as directed.
The maintenance of State Forest facilities encompasses cleaning, painting, and repairing buildings, structures, boundaries, trails, and equipment. It also involves operating and maintaining the tools and equipment essential for these tasks. Additionally, the role requires performing minor repairs and preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as well as assisting the automotive mechanic when needed.
Conducting safety checks and inspections of equipment and tools before use to ensure safe operation is essential. In terms of road maintenance, the position entails operating assigned equipment and tools to ensure smooth, well-drained road surfaces and maintaining clear and safe right-of-way conditions.

- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
