Moog is hiring an Electrical Staff Design Engineer within the Aircraft Group to lead the development of advanced electrohydraulic, electromechanical, and electropneumatic components and systems that become Moog's nextgeneration products. In this highly technical leadership role, you will apply seasoned engineering judgment to evaluate, adapt, and extend both standard and nonstandard design techniques. You will independently create new approaches to complex challenges, coordinate major engineering efforts, and guide crossfunctional engineering teams. A significant portion of this role includes sustainment engineering for current platforms.

As an Electrical Staff Design Engineer, you will:

  • Act as electronic box architect for flight control computers and motorcontrol electronics used in military aviation applications.

  • Act as the technical integration lead and primary point of contact for customers, programs, and vendors. This includes "cradletograve" activities.

  • Contribute technical concepts and ensure requirement compliance for proposals on new aircraft platforms.

  • Develop and mature system architecture and requirements in collaboration with systems engineering and other disciplines.

  • Create and maintain requirements for flight control electronics assemblies, ensuring designs meet cost, reliability, and schedule targets.

  • Promote and facilitate ModelBased Design methods, tools, and processes.

  • Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC and all applicable environmental and electromagnetic requirements.

  • Drive design to meet manufacturing, cost, reliability and schedule targets.

  • Lead multidiscipline engineering teams (mechanical, software, digital, analog, power, etc.) in electronics assembly development.

  • Support requirements definition for electronics box test equipment as well as the test procedures to qualify said requirements.

  • Oversee Validation & Verification (V&V) testing activities.

  • Mentor and coach engineers within the electronics department to build capability and technical depth.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required).

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience.

  • At least 5 years of development team leadership experience.

  • Proven leadership, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Depth of understanding and experience in the design, analysis, and development of aircraft actuation controllers.

It'd Be Great If You Also Had:

  • Experience with requirements flowdown, actuator and sensor interfaces.

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as RTCA/DO160, MILSTD461, MILSTD704, MILSTD810, RTCA/DO254.

  • Experience with aerospace qualification and certification processes.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $160,000.00-$185,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
