SUMMARY:

The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality, cost-effective care for their patients. The Physician Assistant will be responsible to the Medical Director and/or Supervising Physician and responsible for overseeing the progress of a specific caseload of patients across the care continuum. May act as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers as necessary caring for the patients across the care continuum.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates a fundamental grounding in medical theory and practice with mastery of knowledge within a defined content area.
  • Manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings.
  • Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model.
  • Oversees care coordination in acute, home care, and ambulatory care settings as feasible where pertinent.
  • Assists the healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals by providing necessary support, education and encouragement.
  • Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics.
  • Provides direct care to patients in acute care, ambulatory care and home care settings where applicable.
  • Performs advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Medical Director.
  • Provides expert consultation for clinical issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.
  • Participates in the education, clinical research and mentoring of healthcare providers.
  • Facilitates patient/family education in area of expertise.
  • Annually completes mandatory safety and infection control training.
  • Prescriptive privileges per licensure.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited school for physician assistant training. PA certification required.
  • Certified and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process
  • Prefer one-two years related experience in an outpatient Dermatology setting.

Pay Range:

$127,504.00-$161,782.40
