Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Eagleton Institute of Politics. Supports the work of the Rutgers Democracy Lab (
RDL) by assisting with outreach and engagement efforts, helping implement educational programs and events, and coordinating with internal and external partners. The Eagleton Institute is a collaborative team. On occasion, all members are asked to participate in Institute-wide and/or cross-team project
The Rutgers Democracy Lab (
RDL) was established through a transformative gift to serve as a vibrant hub for civic engagement and a collaborative workshop for studying, analyzing, and addressing contemporary democracy. The Lab supports students, faculty, and external partners in examining democratic institutions, emerging challenges, and opportunities for civic participation.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Contributes to expanding and diversifying program audiences, supports social media and promotional activities, and assists in maintaining processes used to track participation and engagement outcomes.
- Supports day-to-day program operations, including logistics, scheduling, coordination of activities, and implementation support across RDL programs.
- Researches, identifies, implements and evaluates topics, program ideas, and speakers for events.
- Assists with all aspects of planning and administering these events.
- Assists in dealings with University officials and other partners to coordinate student involvement in areas of mutual interest.
- Builds and maintains a robust collection of on campus key partners that support student civic engagement, including scheduling weekly meetings, creating key documents, and analyzing program participation.
- Supports the expansion of RDL programs by assisting with coordination efforts and helping maintain relationships with peer institutions and partners at the regional and national level
- Identifies and compiles key benchmarks for engagement, including social media analytics, and in person engagement.
- Assists with other projects that relate to promoting RDL public presence, including, all social media pages, creating graphics for events and programming, ongoing website updates related to programs and events, event management, facilitation and implementation.
- Works with RDL Public Relations Specialist and other staff to help create external-facing communications focused on sharing information more widely about our public programs, both in promotion before the program and sharing information during and after the programs, including to press and on social media.
- Understands and weaves the mission and core values of RDL into all programmatic opportunities and external presence.
- Amplifies non-partisan messages of other organizations (internal and external) sharing RDL mission and core values of enhancing youth civic engagement and participation.
- Recruits a diverse group of student applicants from across Rutgers University and colleges/universities across the country, using existing and new networks.
- Acts as a liaison between applicants/student volunteers and other key actors involved in RDL.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of student involvement in the program, including: facilitating the development of marketing materials, drafting applications and other key documents, managing event planning, hosting student focus groups, and identifying involvement opportunities for student participants.
- Maintains organized electronic and physical program files and participant records.
- Tracks enrollment, attendance, and completion metrics to support internal reporting and program evaluation.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Must have at least BA in political science, communications, or a related field, and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program coordination, organization, facilitation, and social media promotion/outreach.
- A minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function.
