Kyocera has a temp-to-hire position for a Sr. RFIC Test Engineer at our San Diego, CA (KWIC) facility. Candidates selected for hire will be hired through one of Kyocera's approved staffing partners. This position may lead to a direct hire offer with Kyocera International, Inc.
Pay is $100-150/hr BILL RATE

Senior RFIC Test Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior RFIC Test Engineer develops, implements, and optimizes RF test methodologies for mmWave 5G Beamforming RFICs across the full product lifecycle-from initial design through ATE development and high-volume production. This role involves working closely with semiconductor test houses, RFIC design engineers, and system integration teams to ensure accurate test correlation across bench, ATE, and system levels. Additional responsibilities include automated test development, data analysis, and process improvements to enhance lab efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead the development of RFIC test solutions, from bench characterization to high-volume production testing.
  • Interface with semiconductor test houses (SATs) to facilitate ATE development and product commercialization.
  • Correlate bench test, ATE, and system-level test results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Characterize mmWave RFIC technologies at both bench and probe levels.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve test-related issues.
  • Develop test plans, methodologies, and reports for mmWave RFIC testing.
  • Provide feedback to the RFIC design team based on test results and performance trends.
  • Collaborate with the Reliability team on qualification testing (ESD, HTOL, UHAST, etc.).
  • Develop automated test systems and software to enhance test speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend test equipment to meet RFIC test requirements.
  • Stay up to date with RF testing advancements and industry trends.
  • Present technical briefs on test results, methodologies, and data analysis to stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior test engineers.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of RF circuits, transceiver operation, and measurement theory.
  • Experience working with external test houses for ATE development, qualification, and high-volume RFIC production testing.
  • Deep knowledge of IC manufacturing processes and their impact on RFIC performance.
  • Proficiency in Python for automated RF test development and data post-processing.
  • Familiarity with digital controls of RFICs, including SPI protocol.
  • Hands-on experience characterizing mmWave RFICs using RF test equipment (e.g., Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Signal Generators, Phase Noise Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, DC Power Supplies, Digital Multimeters).
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
