Job Title: Education Registrar Office Support
Classification: 1811 - Office Support assistant AFSCME Unit 6, Bargaining unit consideration begins on 2/12/2026 and ends on 2/19/2026.
Supervisor: Susan Hickey, Education Registrar Lead
Starting Hourly Rate: $22.39

Overview
This position is part of the Arboretum Education Registrar work team, and assists the team in accomplishing goals in a multi-faceted work environment. The office assistant requires an interest and ability to interact in a professional/positive manner with the public via phone, email, and in person, and have the ability to juggle multiple tasks.

Schedule
Regular work hours are 3 weekdays per week, 7 hours per day typically 8:30 am - 4 pm on site at the UMN Arboretum in Chanhassen, MN. Days are Monday and Thursday with the 3rd day to be determined preferably Tuesday or Wednesday. Along with flexibility for occasional coverage of office staff when absent or during peak times.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact, via phone, email and in person, at the Arboretum Learning Center Education Office.
  • Assist office staff for all functions related to Adult Education and Youth Education programs including phone, in-person, and on-line class registrations
  • Assist with entering new programming information into both the Adult Education and Youth Education software
  • Assist with creating weekly reports
  • Other office tasks and projects as assigned
Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED and one year general office experience. Training/education may substitute for some experience.
  • Customer service experience
  • Proficiency with Google Apps (Calendar, Docs, Google Sheets, etc)
  • Experience working as a member of a team

Desired

  • Two years of office experience and/or training beyond high school
  • Two years of customer service experience
  • Experience working with registration software
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Documented organizational skills
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22.39 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 52% Appointment, 21 hours per week

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
