LOCATION: Santa Fe, NM

STATUS: Part-Time Seasonal

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or GED req (Associate or Bachelors Degree Preferred)
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License and be able to satisfactorily complete The Salvation Army Fleet Safety
  • Experience working with the unhoused or in a social service environment preferred
  • Able to maintain a non-judgement attitude and a professional approach working with clients
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Able to handle crisis/emergency situation or services for the unhoused and to utilize crisis intervention, crowd management and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to assess at risk participants and situations
  • Experience supervising staff or volunteers
  • Training in trauma-informed care, de-escalation, or crisis intervention.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • General knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to supervise and work with assigned volunteers or staff.
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Ability to grasp and implement The Salvation Army Protect the Mission standards when necessary.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coordinate daily operations of the warming center during hours of operation.
  • Open and close the facility according to established procedures.
  • Coordinate with local agencies, emergency services, and community partners as needed
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations.
  • Monitor activities of the participants, keeping visual and continuous interaction with clients
  • Supervise and train staff and volunteers communicating rules, roles and format.
  • Ensure compliance with program rules & expectations, maintaining a safe & manageable environment
  • Monitor the smoking area for appropriate usage and cleanliness
  • Confirm appropriate person or group has provided food for daily meal & oversee meal service.
  • Assist participants as time allows and within limits in processing issues & problem solving
  • Assist with any clean-up or kitchen duties. Ensure that the kitchen and dining areas are clean
  • Refer guests with any requests for special help to The Salvation Army Social Services daytime staff.
  • In consultation with staff and volunteers, resolve any disputes arising from guest behavior.
  • Ask any guest(s) who chooses to violate the rules to leave or give them a warning.
  • Police may be phoned if necessary.
  • If police are phoned, also contact Corps Officer and ensure that an Incident Report is prepared.
  • Contact 911 in the event of a medical emergency. Notify Corps Officer and complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Investigate and report activity and incidents appropriately, or as needed to emergency responders, such as police, fire and/or ambulance personnel, according to established guidelines
  • Prepare a summary of daily activities including a report of any incidents, necessary guest removals or medical emergencies
  • Develop a volunteer list. Coordinate, schedule and work with volunteers for Resource/Warming Respite Center activities
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
  • Appropriately track and report all statistics for volunteers, meals served, donations received and other areas as requested.
  • Must be willing to comply with all policies and procedures of The Salvation Army
  • Other duties as assigned that are related to the position of Resource/Warming Respite Center Coordinator.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
