Position Summary The Salvation Army Rochester Corps is committed to "Doing the Most Good" providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; assistance with food, clothing, utility, and rent; housing; dental and medical services; and connections to community partners. The Medical Receptionist provides administrative and clinic support for the Student Community Clinic by greeting and registering patients, managing appointments, responding to inquiries, supporting student providers during clinic sessions, assisting with medication distribution per protocol, and helping maintain a clean and safe clinical environment. Wage: $18 - $19 an hour, 16 hours per week 20 NE First Ave, Rochester, MN 55906- Essential Functions (Approximate time spent)
- Patient Reception and Intake: Greet patients and facilitate check-in, registration, review insurance and intake; respond to phone calls and general inquiries for Student Community Clinic patients. (40%)
- Administrative Support: Perform administrative and clerical duties, including appointment scheduling, confirmations, and reminders. (25%)
- Clinical Support: Support student providers by answering questions and assisting with basic clinical and lab-related tasks within scope and training. (15%)
- Medication Assistance: Assist with the distribution of medications in accordance with clinic protocols and supervision requirements. (15%)
- Clinic Room Upkeep (5%): Clean, sanitize, and restock exam rooms and clinic areas at the end of clinic sessions to ensure readiness and safety.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a medical office, clinic, or customer service setting preferred.
- Must successfully pass background checks.
Competencies
- Effective verbal and written communication skill, including conversational Spanish with patients, students, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic health record (EHR) systems, databases, and general PC use.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and medication handling procedures within scope and training.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinic environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when handling records, appointments, and clinic documentation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and integrity.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to a clinical environment, including medications and cleaning/sanitation supplies, in accordance with established safety protocols.
- Work involves a combination of administrative and active duties, including prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Work is performed on-site in a clinic setting.
