AltaGas - Community Engagement Advisor

As a Community Engagement Advisor, you'll play a key role in building and maintaining trusted relationships with community members, local and state officials, tribes, non-profits, and industry partners. You'll support AltaGas' external engagement efforts, contribute to our reputation in the region, and provide backup support to the Manager, External Affairs and Tribal Relations as needed.

This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role where communication, organization, and strategic thinking come together to support both existing operations and future development projects.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain trusting, respectful, and collaborative relationships in line with AltaGas' values and best practices

  • Support a strong, visible presence for AltaGas in key communities by helping prepare company representatives for community events and by organizing and supporting companysponsored meetings and engagement activities

  • Foster meaningful connections with local and state government officials, industry partners, community leaders, and nonprofit and service organizations

  • Track local opportunities, issues, and trends while keeping internal partners informed

  • Attend public hearings, workgroups, and community meetings; prepare notes and report-outs

  • Draft content and presentation materials with subject matter experts and coordinate approvals with the communications team

  • Support internal and external working groups by scheduling meetings and calls, preparing agendas and materials, and taking notes while tracking timelines and deliverables

  • Maintain accurate and timely community engagement records using provided tools and templates

  • Coordinate community investment donations and sponsorships, including invoicing and payments

  • Conduct research and analysis and prepare briefing notes on stakeholder issues and community impacts

  • Develop stakeholder-focused insights to support internal business decisions

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in community engagement, government relations, media relations, public relations, stakeholder relations, or a related field

  • Eligibility to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) from the U.S. TSA and U.S. Coast Guard

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Knowledge of and experience working with local government, tribes, and stakeholder groups in Whatcom County, Northwest Washington, and Washington State

  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong relationships across community, industry, and government groups

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail

  • A flexible, accountable, and collaborative mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Self-motivated, comfortable working independently and as part of a team

We offer a competitive salary range of $69,000 - $100,200 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
