A Brief Overview
Under the leadership of the Senior Director of Public Relations and Social Media, the Senior Manager, Social Media will lead our paid and organic social media strategy. This individual will be responsible for enhancing and evolving our social media presence, driving engagement, and fostering meaningful connections with our community, including patients, families, staff, and supporters. This role requires a strategic, compassionate, and creative professional with a deep understanding of storytelling, brand integrity, and platform-specific trends, particularly in a healthcare or nonprofit setting.

What you will do
  • Strategy Development:
    Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the hospital's mission, brand voice, enterprise strategy, and organizational goals.
  • Content Creation & Oversight:
    Using a social-first approach, oversee the creation, curation, and management of engaging, family-friendly, and HIPAA-compliant content across all social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, etc.) that brings CHOP storytelling to life while remaining compliant with the hospital's brand standards, messaging, and tone.
  • Campaign Management:
    Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues in PR, Marketing, Digital, Creative Services, and across clinical divisions, to design, execute and measure the results of integrated social media campaigns, both organic and paid.
  • Team Leadership:
    Supervise junior social media staff and/or vendors, providing mentorship, quality control, and editorial guidance.
  • Community Engagement:
    Monitor and manage social media conversations, responding with empathy and care. Help to cultivate a positive and supportive online community reflective of our hospital's mission and values.
  • Analytics & Reporting:
    Track KPIs and provide regular reports on content performance, audience growth, engagement, and ROI. Use insights to continually inform strategy, optimize results, and show impact.
  • Crisis Communication:
    Collaborate with PR and Brand Communications teams to manage social media responses during emergencies, public health crises, or other events.
  • Trend Monitoring:
    Stay up to date with emerging social trends - both inside and outside of healthcare - technologies, and platform changes to drive innovation.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field Required
Experience Qualifications
  • At least ten (10) years Progressively responsible experience in Public Relations, Marketing or Communications within an agency or in-house, healthcare or nonprofit setting preferred. Required
  • At least five (5) years 5-7 years of experience leading social media strategy, execution and optimization, ideally in a healthcare or other nonprofit setting. Required

  • *Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. (Required proficiency)
  • *Superior knowledge of social media platforms and their best practices. (Required proficiency)
  • *Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with impeccable attention to detail, tone, and accuracy. (Required proficiency)
  • *Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and health regulations. (Required proficiency)
  • *Fundamental understanding of broader digital marketing concepts. (Required proficiency)
  • *Ability to work collaboratively with both clinical and non-clinical teams. (Required proficiency)
  • *Familiarity with healthcare marketing trends, social media design best practices, and targeted audience engagement. (Required proficiency)
  • *Ability to travel to CHOP locations/facilities for on-site events, forums, and programs, occasionally in the evenings and on weekends. (Required proficiency)
  • *Experience in influencer outreach and/or collaborations. (Required proficiency)
  • *Familiarity with social content management and analytics tools such as Sprinkl'r and Meta Insights. (Required proficiency)
  • *Proven experience managing social media crises and sensitive content with discretion and compassion. (Required proficiency)
  • *Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic planning and impactful social media content, complemented by deep knowledge of both organic and paid strategies and tactics across all major social media platforms. (Required proficiency)
  • *Demonstrated execution of social media best practices, leveraging advertising tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Sprinkl'r, Meta Business Suite). (Required proficiency)

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
