Additional Job Description: Surgical Director and Primary Liver Transplant Surgeon West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery seek a Surgical Director and Primary Liver Transplant Surgeon qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Liver Transplant Surgery. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. This directorship position provides strategic oversight and clinical direction for a comprehensive liver transplant program, with particular emphasis on the continued growth and excellence of a robust living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) program. The successful candidate will be an experienced liver transplant surgeon with demonstrated expertise in both deceased and living donor transplantation, a strong commitment to donor safety and recipient outcomes, and a clear vision for programmatic growth in an academic setting. This is a unique opportunity to build a liver transplant program from inception within a growing academic medical center committed to clinical excellence, innovation, research, and surgical education. Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed General Surgery residency program, as well as transplant fellowship program or equivalent training meeting OPTN/UNOS primary surgeon requirements. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in transplant surgery. In addition, candidates must meet OPTN/UNOS criteria as a Primary Liver Transplant Surgeon and demonstrate experience in liver transplant with documented case log sufficient to support UNOS credentialing. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. The WVU Medicine Transplant Alliance is West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center.
