Overview

The Data Warehouse Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that collects, stores, and processes raw data, transforming it into usable information for analysis by data scientists and business analysts, essentially ensuring data is accessible and reliable for informed decision making within an organization.

Responsibilities

    Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using industry standard toolsets to extract, transform, and load data between disparate systems or within a single system
  • Design and develop integrations with external systems using a variety of mechanisms such as flat file import, FTP, direct database connectors, web service and REST APIs, proprietary connection drivers, JDBC, and ODBC
  • Engineer data transformation and data manipulation processes through standard ETL toolsets or embedded database procedures
  • Implement standardized data masking and data criticality procedures to protect sensitive and "Personally Identifiable Information" (PII) data
  • Test for and implement data validation checks and quality controls to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Work closely with business partners and business teams to understand data requirements and document/design solutions
  • Help business partners grow their data literacy by expanding their knowledge of company data and how it can be used
  • Understanding capability and limitations of software used within data engineering and working with the software vendors to ensure its effective use in the company
  • Use business intelligence tools to develop business-usable solutions that benefit business and lend to increased revenue and/or efficiencies
  • Document data architecture, workflows, and standards to be used within the data engineering team
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture and foster positive working relationships
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum number of 2 years of job related experience
  • Knowledge or competency with data related languages such as Python, Spark, SQL, Java, Scala, Microsoft .net, REST API, etc..
  • Experience with data warehouse infrastructures such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, Databricks, Delta Lake, Salesforce
  • Experience or exposure to artificial intelligence (AI) type data warehouse platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experienced with data engineering toolsets such as Talend, Talend Cloud, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, IBM Infosphere, DBT, Informatica, Fivetran, Airbyte, Dagster, etc.
  • Good communication (verbal, written and listening) skills

For all Data Engineer II

  • Minimum of 2 years of Data Engineering experience
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all of the above aspects of data engineering

For all Data Engineer III

  • Minimum of 3 years of Data Engineering experience
  • Advanced knowledge, understanding and execution in all of the above aspects of data engineering
