The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) Division of Family Health and Wellness (FHW) is hiring an Epidemiologist 2 for the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (CDPHP) section. This position is responsible for professional scientific and epidemiological assessments of considerable difficulty across multiple programs and supervises junior epidemiologists within the section. This position will work closely with CDPHP team leads to support existing programs as well as emerging initiatives, including new grants, pilot projects, and cross-division efforts as funding opportunities evolve. This position reports to the CDPHP Section Chief. This is an executive service position. How you make a difference in this role: Under direction, is responsible for professional scientific and epidemiological assessments of considerable difficulty; performs related work as required. An incumbent in this class conducts scientific research in communicable diseases, environmental epidemiology and toxicology. The incumbent also makes health and risk assessments and provides expertise to health department physicians, departmental personnel, and environmental regulatory personnel. Key Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: Education and Expertise differ for this executive service classification based on the needs of the department. This might include a Bachelor's degree in a health or science field, a Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Health Administration or Health Planning, experience with statewide leadership or directing all functions of a public health program as a whole.
