Daikin Applied is seeking a Mechanical Designer. The Designer will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage a parts list. Designers will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered. Location: Plymouth, MN - Hybrid

What you will do:

• Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards

• Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation

• Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules

• Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills

• Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness

• Complete work assignments within a determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals

• Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products

• Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic

• Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications:

• Vocational, Technical, Associates in Design/Drafting, or Engineering Bachelor's Degree

• 0+ years of related experience

• Experience designing in SolidWorks or related

• Experience with Excel

• The ability to travel up to 10% (mostly to factories located in MN)

• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in sheet metal and tubing design and/or HVAC products

• Experience working with flowcharts and variable geometry

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $25.72 - $41.20 in Minnesota. The range displayedrepresentsthe pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
