Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to support the maintenance and operational integrity of critical laboratory and facility infrastructure. This role involves a combination of high-precision instrumentation calibration and robust industrial electrical maintenance to ensure the safety and reliability of mission critical systems.

Instrumentation & Calibration:

  • Perform precise calibrations and functional testing on process instruments, including transmitters, pressure switches, gauges, and level indicators.

  • Maintain and repair analytical instrumentation and process control loops (e.g., 4-20mA, HART, and digital signals).

  • Document calibration results and maintain service records in compliance with DOE and lab standards.

  • Electrical Maintenance & Repair:

    • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, including Motor Control Centers, distribution panels, and complex wiring systems.

    • Maintain and service overhead cranes including motors, controls, and limit switches.

    • Perform electrical troubleshooting for HVAC systems ensuring proper climate control for sensitive laboratory environments.

  • Operational Support:

    • Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals to diagnose equipment failures.

    • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as multimeters, loop calibrators, and oscilloscopes.

    • Execute Preventative Maintenance schedules to minimize facility downtime.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience, ideally in a nuclear or high-hazard environment.

  • Work Keys requirement: Applied technology 4, Graphic literacy 3, workplace observation 2 or WIN: work ready data, math, reading=3

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in E&I Technology or completion of a recognized apprenticeship

  • Proficiency in NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E safety standards.
