BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to assist the Program Director in monitoring the daily activities of the staff and children, to enforce the State and County licensing regulations throughout the Center and to assist with the clerical duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Create and maintain a safe space for children to learn and grow
  2. Assist Program Director with supervising, evaluating, training and guiding assigned staff
  3. Ensure staff understand and adhere to internal and external standards and licensing requirements (i.e. CA Education Codes Title 5, Title 22)
  4. Interact with children and parents and encourage their involvement in activities
  5. Assist Program Director with developing, maintaining and tracking student's working folders and Desired Results Developmental Profiles (DRDP)
  6. Assist Program Director the bi-annual evaluation of children's environments
  7. Substitute, as needed, in classrooms ensuring adequate staff ratios
  8. Engage with parents and maintain good relationships with families
  9. Maintain attendance and meal count records in office for monthly stats.
  10. Coordinate intake/exit procedures in compliance with licensing requirements
  11. Conduct community outreach
  12. Maintain inventory of office and janitorial supplies
  13. Attend staff meetings, training courses and provide training on in-service days
  14. Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards
  15. Maintain a highly detailed and organized filling system
  16. Answer phone, handle routine questions and direct calls
  17. Utilize harm reduction and trauma informed care principles
  18. Maintain a professional image and procedures for the front office
  19. Complete written documentation of participant infractions
  20. Maintain a neat and organized filling system
  21. Check and respond to emails and voicemails on a regular basis
  22. Adhere to confidentiality standards
  23. Other related duties, as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  1. Minimum of 5 years' experience of working with young children in a childcare setting or Child Development Center
  2. Minimum of 2 years supervising adults
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with children in an active environment
  4. Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for infants, toddlers and preschoolers
  5. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  6. Ability to operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required
  7. Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
  8. High degree of confidentiality
  9. Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
  10. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  11. Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
  12. High degree of organizational skills
  13. Approach problem solving creatively
  14. Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  1. Associates level degree in Early Childhood education, required. Bachelor level degree preferred.
  2. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  3. Must be 21 years or older
  4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
  5. Must have Site Supervisor permit or equivalent
  6. Minimum of 24 ECE/CD units completed prior to hire
  7. CPR and Mandated Reporter Certificate
  8. Must pass Live Scan and other background screenings


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  3. Ability to reach overhead
  4. Ability to operate telephone
  5. Ability to lift up to 25-40 lbs.
  6. Ability to operate a computer
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
  8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
