Position Overview

ISPA Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator specializing in RHEL 8/9 and VMware vShere to join our Patch Management team. The candidate must demonstrate a basic understanding of how RHEL interacts with DoD hardware and how to maintain it. This role is critical in ensuring the security and stability of our cross-platform environment. You will be responsible for deploying updates, automating workflows via scripting, and troubleshooting complex integration issues between Linux and Windows systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patch Execution & Troubleshooting: Manage the full lifecycle of patching for Linux servers, including troubleshooting configuration files and resolving system-level dependencies.
  • Scripting & Automation: Develop, maintain, and optimize scripts to automate repetitive patching tasks and system health checks.
  • Cross-Platform Integration: Diagnose and resolve interoperability issues where Linux and Windows systems interact (e.g., authentication, file sharing, or monitoring).
  • Security Tooling: Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities identified by ACAS, and how to configure and utilize Splunk commands to assist the cyber team with log analysis and system auditing.
  • Technical Documentation: Author clear, concise "README" files and technical guides to ensure scripts and processes are repeatable by the broader team.

Required Qualifications

  • RHEL Expertise: Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This includes package management via yum or dnf, kernel tuning, troubleshooting boot issues post-patching, and includes practical experience with Splunk for troubleshooting and ACAS (Nessus) for vulnerability management.
  • Scripting Proficiency: Intermediate-level experience in Red Hat, Bash, Python, Ansible, and some PowerShell script. You should be able to create original scripts, not just edit existing ones.
  • VMware Infrastructure: Proficiency with vSphere/ESXi 7.0+. Ability to manage snapshots (crucial for rollback plans), and Resource Pools during maintenance windows
  • System Configuration: Hands-on experience modifying and troubleshooting system configuration files (e.g., SSH, SSSD, Cron, YUM/DNF configs) including familiarity with Windows Server/Client environments and an understanding of how they communicate with Linux
  • Communication: Technical writing skills with a focus on making complex technical procedures easy to follow for end users.
  • COMPTIA Security+ Certification required

Why Choose ISPA Technology?
