What to Expect

As a Senior Engineer in the Multiphysics CAE team, you will play a critical role in the development of the next generation Tesla products. In this role you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing the performance of revolutionary products. You will be an innovative and skilled problem solver, using computational analysis tools, complemented with innovative methodologies that you develop, for enabling faster and more accurate solutions. You are a brilliant engineer, technically and as an individual, joining a diverse and cross-functional team, challenging the boundaries of accelerating the world transition to sustainable energy.

What You'll Do
  • Providing CAE support through build of state-of-the-art FEA and CFD models to the finest details
  • Supporting design progression and product evolution with multi-disciplinary engineering teams relying on your analyses
  • Drive manufacturing centric design solutions with CAE, while balancing all applicable requirements with state-of-the-art design and innovative manufacturing processes
  • Perform advanced CAE simulations for evaluating and enhancing the performance of full systems or sub-systems in specific vehicle attributes and manufacturing processes
  • Develop and apply analysis methodologies with advanced computational techniques to drive innovation into Tesla products
  • Conducting coupled multidisciplinary analysis domains of CFD, thermal, structural
  • Perform post-test reviews and corroborate your analyses to test results
  • Conducting optimization studies using optimization tools, including DOE/DFSS techniques on components, assemblies, or full systems with focus on performance requirements and the constraints of mass, cost and manufacturing
  • Provide input in the creation of component specification, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents where analysis plays a pivotal role
  • Produce concise analysis summaries and report-outs that meet the needs of the design teams, management, and decision functions

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong fundamentals in Fluid, Thermal, and Solid Mechanics, and robust knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Elements Analysis (FEA)
  • Experience in CFD tools (Fluent, StarCCM+) is required
  • Demonstrated experience in one, or all the following is preferred: LS-DYNA, NASTRAN, ABAQUS
  • Experience in multi-phase CFD, SPH and fluid-structure interaction analyses, preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years of similar experience within a product engineering environment in a transportation industry with at least two relevant product lines
  • Knowledge of optimization tools and techniques beneficial
  • Demonstrated proactive attitude and initiative taking mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on pioneering and challenging problems, and delivering with limited inputs and tight timing constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to deconstruct complex problems and test procedures into analysis cases with a sound engineering mindset
