About The Position

The Lead Accounts Payable Specialist will play a key role in supporting all Accounts Payable functions related to Invoice processing, vendor management, reporting, payments and month-end close. This role will provide critical support to leadership in team oversight, metrics, Sox requirements, and help lead end-to-end transformation initiatives to enhance processes, systems, and overall operational performance. A strong focus on continuous improvement and automation will be essential to drive increased efficiency and effectiveness across the Accounts Payable function. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of Accounts Payable operations and the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the team to address and solve challenges in the day-to-day processes

  • Improve operational efficiency in Accounts Payable through delivering, maintaining, and improving end-to-end processes with a focus on process standardization, optimization, and automation.

  • Lead assigned transformation initiatives by proactively recommending changes and improvements based on industry's best practices and capabilities.

  • Approve all vendor management changes and coach supplier setup team on recurring issues.

  • Collaborate across the organization, including Supply Chain, Banking, Digital IT and Continuous Improvement, to address broader complex challenges and pursue improvements.

  • Maintain and establish internal controls and procedures to protect the assets of the company and determine new controls or procedures that address the growth of the company

  • Track and measure the success of transformation initiatives across process improvements, automation, and business case benefits.

  • Responsible for creating monthly metrics and reporting dashboards used by the Accounts Payable team

  • Oversight of 1099 compliance in conjunction with AP specialist and Tax Department

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited college or university required. Seven or more years of Accounts Payable experience, relevant accounting or banking/treasury experience required. Five or more years of experience working on complex projects, continuous improvement events or Accounts Payable initiatives preferred. Team leadership experience preferred and proficiency with Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Excel, and Word) required. Excellent organizational skills.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency with SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management required. Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently required. Solid verbal and written communication skills preferred.

Compensation Range:

$93,200.00 - $144,500.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
