Marketing Coordinator (Public Relations)


Milwaukee County General Mitchell International Airport (MKE)


Starting salary ranges from: $74,796.80 to $87,443.20



Job Summary: The primary objective of the Marketing Coordinator is to promote brand awareness and availability of airlines/destinations available at MKE to increase the number of passengers using the Airport, creating demand that results in more and better nonstop air service for our community. This position manages the Airport's image in national, local and aviation arenas through effective media relations, electronic communication, passenger experience practices, and emergency communication.


Essential Role Responsibilities:



  • Marketing: In cooperation with the Airport Marketing/PR team, helps coordinate the Airport's integrated marketing strategy, direction and tactics for both Mitchell and Timmerman Airports. Manages Airport's involvement with business, civic, tourism and corporate travel groups in Wisconsin and Illinois, including development and execution of sponsorships and sweepstakes. Represents Airport at travel trade organizations and corporate travel planner meetings in both states.
  • Public Relations & Internal Communications: Serves as the lead writer of the Airport's news releases and special event talking points, drafting speeches for Airport leadership, producing visual presentations, and presenting Airport information to community organizations. Produces Airport email news blasts to the public and internal employee communications. Maintains distribution lists for external and internal audiences.
  • Media Relations: Serves as a 24/7 media manager for both Mitchell and Timmerman Airports. Develops news releases, talking points, and alerts for release to media. Manages media distribution lists.
  • Digital Media: Assists in the management of content on Airport-operated websites and oversees the Airport's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Produces internal news updates to engage all Airport employee workgroups.
  • Community Relations and Special Events Production/Management: Plans and executes events to celebrate milestone achievements. Promotes the Airport and aviation careers at travel fairs and community events. Serves as an Airport liaison to VISIT Milwaukee, Wisconsin DOT, aviation trade associations, the summer A.C.E. student employment program and the Milwaukee County Marketing & Communications Council.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of WI
  • Valid WI Driver's License
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, journalism or a related field.
  • At least three (3) or more years of experience in marketing, communication and/or public relations.
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer applications of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, website content management, social media platforms, and video editing.
  • Position requires an individual with strong skills in writing, graphics and/or public relations.


Note: The position requires a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend shifts to support events.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • A candidate with creative/agency experience.
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry is a plus.
