Position Description

The Maintenance Supervisor leads the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all plant equipment and facilities. This role emphasizes leadership, training, and strategic scheduling to minimize downtime and support production goals. The ideal candidate will manage preventive maintenance programs, oversee contractors, and drive continuous improvement through KPI monitoring and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Train maintenance personnel on safety protocols, including electrical theory and arc flash standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify safe operating conditions and adherence to company policies.

Quality

  • Develop, maintain, and improve preventive maintenance programs for all process, production, laboratory, and facility equipment.
  • Oversee contractors (electricians, plumbers, HVAC, janitorial, grounds maintenance) to ensure work meets company standards.
  • Perform quality checks on recently maintained equipment to confirm proper operation and workmanship.

Delivery

  • Create and manage maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and support production goals.
  • Coordinate resources for strategic and capital projects, ensuring timelines are met.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs such as OEE and PM Completion Rate; implement corrective actions as needed.

Cost

  • Prepare purchase orders for contracted services, maintenance supplies, tooling, and critical spares.
  • Obtain quotations for services to ensure cost-effectiveness and value.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance equipment, supplies, and spare parts to optimize cost and availability.

Leadership

  • Directly supervise 1-4 maintenance employees and any subcontracted services.
  • Provide coaching, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; 1-2 years related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Ability to read and write and speak English to interpret manuals; basic math skills.
  • Strong work ethic, reliable attendance; flexible to work any shift, overtime, or weekends.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Comfort with regular standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing; lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
