Who We Are...

McWane Inc. has a newly created division, McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI). This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is "easiest to do business with". We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants. We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.

Position:Quality Manager

Location: Calera, AL

Directly Reports to: Senior Quality Manager

Job Description

This position requires you to have high energy, be a multitasker, prioritize and manage, have excellent attention to detail, and have outstanding organizational skills. It also requires familiarity with blueprint reading, machine fabrication, and cast parts. Experience with NDT methods would be advantageous. Experience as a machinist would be very valuable.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
  • Member of the manufacturing plant leadership team and owner of the product quality management program. Develop positive relationships with other leaders and team members in the plant and throughout the MPI organization to further advance our quality programs.
  • Producing quality plans and maps to ensure all parts are manufactured and inspected per specific product specifications.
  • Detailed measuring of fabrications, castings, and machined parts using high-precision measurement devices, such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc.
  • Generate completed reports for every job going through the plant.
  • Proactively Promoted the McWane Way Principles.
  • Coordinating outside UT, X-ray inspections.
  • Keeping all measuring equipment current with calibrations.
  • Running all internal, external & customer witness testing inspections per customer specification and industry standards.
  • Immediately escalating product or process quality issues, so they can be dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry requirements
  • Responsible for quality and document management systems as they relate to the manufacturing plant details and data.
  • Duties and responsibilities may change at the discretion of leadership.

Work Environment:

  • Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and adhere physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection and mask).
  • Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
  • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
  • May be required to work extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Able to tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five (5) years of Blueprint reading of fabrications, castings, and machined parts.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience with various types of measuring equipment
  • Minimum (5) years' experience with visual inspection of parts.
  • Attention to detail
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to be part of the team interacting with employees and customers.
  • Duties also include occasional operation of fork trucks and man lifts, overhead cranes, grinders, power and hand tools, painting equipment and occasional heavy lifting upwards to and in excess of 50lbs.
