Department OverviewOur customers are public safety agencies, governments and military organizations who use our mission critical communications systems. The Security Governance team is part of the Security Update Service (SUS) organization. SUS provides pretested security updates, minimizing cyber risk and software conflicts. These security updates contain operating system security patches and antivirus definitions. Job Description

This internship offers a rewarding experience for a candidate eager to contribute to the Security Update Service (SUS) team. The SUS Governance Specialist Intern will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and completeness of data essential for providing patching solutions across Motorola Solutions' supported products.

  • Database Management: Ensure the SUS product database remains accurate and up-to-date.

  • Information Maintenance: Keep vital information current, including the Operating System, hardware, and technology details, for 1000+ supported items to facilitate effective patching solutions.

  • Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with various teams (e.g., Development, Support, Product Owners) to track and manage progress.

  • Gap Identification & Reporting: Proactively alert management on gaps identified within the offered patching solutions.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Required Skills & Attributes:

    • Demonstrated resourcefulness and independent problem-solving skills (e.g., effective use of search engines).

    • Strong adaptability to new processes, technologies, and tools.

    • Basic foundational knowledge of Operating Systems (both Windows and Linux), hardware, and technology.

    • A strong desire for continuous learning, growth, and advancing technical skills, coupled with a willingness to embrace challenges.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior exposure to database and schema concepts.

    • Pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or Communications.

Location:

  • This internship will be hybrid, 2-3 days a week in our Schaumburg, IL office. This is located at 2000 Progress Pkwy, Schaumburg, IL 60196.

Target Base Salary Range: $40,000 - $55,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

  • Must currently be pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an anticipated graduation date during or after December 2026

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
