The BNSF Railway Compliance and Audit Department ensures adherence to best practices in corporate governance, risk management, and internal controls, fostering trust and alignment with business partners. Committed to ethics and integrity, this team plays a vital role in maintaining BNSF's high standards. Their efforts are essential in upholding the company's reputation and operational excellence.

This is a full-timeposition located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Travel is minimal, less than 10%

Key responsibilities may include:

Code of Conduct: Develops and implements the annual Code of Conduct training course and ensures employee certification; reviews employee conflicts of interest disclosures, reports to leadership, and communicates safeguards.

Compliance Plan: Develops and executes the annual Compliance Plan, which includes conducting research to identify legal developments, benchmarking to understand best practices, identifying potential modifications to BNSF's compliance program and/or functions, and working with Compliance leaders to implement the Compliance Plan as approved by Executive Leadership and Berkshire.

Enterprise Risk Management: Assesses enterprise risks, maps company activities to risks, identifies gaps, and designs communication plan to share findings with Leadership Team and other stakeholders.

Compliance Committee: Plans quarterly BNSF Compliance Committee meetings, including proposing agenda items, preparing presentations, presenting on new or revised policies and the Code of Conduct, and managing communications with Compliance Committee members.

Compliance Assessments: Conducts compliance assessments identified through the annual compliance plan or as requested by BNSF leadership. Assessments require an understanding of applicable compliance objectives and evaluation of current program design, often through benchmarking and consultation with multiple stakeholders. Assessments involve working collaboratively with Compliance and BNSF leadership to refine program design to ensure ongoing adequacy in an evolving compliance and regulatory environment.

Compliance Training: Ensures BNSF's compliance program has appropriately tailored training and communications, including training on new or updated policies and risks. Leads multi-department teams to identify training needs and deploy courses, with integration through BNSF's learning management system (LMS).

Compliance Projects:Oversees compliance projects as assigned by Compliance leadership, including planning, implementation, reporting, and periodic monitoring, working directly with stakeholders and under minimal supervision.

Effectively manages multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing based on continual reassessment of risks and scope, allocating resources and resolving resource conflicts.

Manages budget for compliance training courses, including the Code of Conduct.

Contributes to our positive, team-oriented culture by developing and maintaining cooperative relationships, facilitating the resolution of conflicts, and accepting and providing constructive feedback.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Compliance & Audit, Law, Finance, Technology, Human Resources or related experience applying the above-listed skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-driven, organized, and able to analyze, problem-solve, and coordinate and integrate information from numerous departments within BNSF and other sources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Proficiency with LMS systems.

  • Working knowledge of day-to-day railroad operations and practices.
