Summary:
Under general direction of the Vice President for Medical Education (VPME), the Director of Medical Education will have primary responsibility for the management and operations of the Department of Medical Education (DME). Work is diversified, requiring independent decisions within a broad scope of practices and precedent. Position is expected to resolve problems of varying nature with minimal direction.

TheCHETDirector will be responsible for advancing the expansion, quality, and sustainability of healthcare training and education for healthcare trainees in rural and underserved communitiesacross rural Maine. The work includes developing and sustaining collaborations and partnerships statewide, working with external funding organizations, directing strategy in conjunction with the co-principal investigators and executive committee, leading the team assigned to this work, and measuring expansion, quality and other metrics. The education and training efforts will focus learners across the continuum from entry-level clinical healthcare roles, nursing, allied health, oral health, behavioral health, and providers as well as upskilling efforts, faculty development, and pathway efforts into healthcareto meet the healthcare needs of rural Maine communities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Master's or Doctoral degree preferred.
  2. License/Certification: N/A.
  3. Experience: A minimum of two to three (2-3) years' experience in Medical Education; Five (5) or more years preferred.
  4. Effective managerial experience and skills.
  5. Comprehensive knowledge of information technology systems.
  6. High level of managerial and organizational skills; ability to supervise and support employee performance.
  7. High level of written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to interact with diverse physicians and managers.
  8. Knowledge of Undergraduate, Graduate and Continuing Medical Education.
