OVERVIEW The Principal Electrical Engineer will create the strategy, change management plan, and lead execution of capital initiatives which accelerate the organization's drive to optimize multi-site power demand/cost profile. This role requires a visionary leader with strong technical expertise, financial acumen, Operations & Supply Chain experience, program management skills, and the ability to align cross-functional teams to achieve world class energy profile. Your deep, established relationship with industry, academia, and government experts allow you to leverage best knowledge to shape the short-term and long-term capital investment program. LOCATION OF ROLE
- This role is remote with25-50% domestic and international travel to support multisite initiatives, engage with crossfunctional teams, and oversee project execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the company's energy transition roadmap, ensuring alignment with Chief Operating Officer, Chief Procurement Officer, and Head of Global Engineering and Corporate Planning long term vision for the company
- Established partnerships with external experts. Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to inform the organization on energy innovation affecting internal and external power supply/transmission.
- Serve as a technical advisor to executive leadership on energy strategy, investments, and risk management for both green and fossil fuel power generation technologies
- Engineering Investments Design/Technology Adoption
- Lead engineering teams responsible for renewable integration (solar, battery storage), electrification, and systems to automate site demand management
- Partner with internal Powerhouse & Electrical Engineering leaders to identify and action continuous improvement across existing Steam and Nat Gas power generation.
- Direct feasibility studies, concept designs, and front-end engineering
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and safety requirements
- Program & Project Management
- Oversee large-scale capital projects. Responsible to drive and own the EBITDA step change in power demand costs
- Drive execution from early concept through commissioning, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Establish KPIs to measure progress toward energy optimization goals across +15 industrial manufacturing sites. Domestic & international geographies.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with operations, supply chain, IT/OT, and external stakeholders to integrate transition technologies into existing systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with regulators, technology providers, academic partners, and industry consortia.
- Provide training and development for manufacturing sites up through C-suite related to emerging energy technologies.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate and pilot cutting-edge technologies (e.g., PV-cells, microgrids, advanced storage, digital twins, AI for energy optimization).
- Establish a culture of innovation within engineering teams, encouraging experimentation and data-driven decision making.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, reliability improvement, and resilience in energy systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 20+ years of progressive engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Substantial experience in an Electrical Engineering, power generation, transmission and demand optimization role. At least 5 in a leadership role.
- Proven track record delivering large capital projects in energy, utilities, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Deep knowledge of renewable energy systems, energy efficiency, grid integration, and decarbonization technologies.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Master's degree preffered
