About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability. This role involves managing servers, networks, storage systems, and cloud environments while providing technical expertise for system upgrades, troubleshooting, and automation initiatives.

Location: This role can sit remotely or be hybrid and would ideally be located near one of our Connecticut or Massachusetts sites. There is minimal travel for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • System Design & Implementation
    • Architect and deploy IT systems including servers, virtualization platforms, and cloud services.
    • Configure and maintain Windows/Linux operating systems and enterprise applications.
  • Infrastructure Management
    • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
    • Manage storage, backup, and recovery solutions.
  • Security & Compliance
    • Implement security best practices, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards (e.g., AS9100, CMMC, NIST).
  • Automation & Optimization
    • Develop scripts and implement automation tools to streamline system administration tasks.
    • Optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency across IT environments.
  • Support & Troubleshooting
    • Provide Tier 3 support for escalated technical issues.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve infrastructure-related problems.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and policies.\
    • Prepare reports on system health, capacity planning, and performance metrics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in system engineering or IT infrastructure roles.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in:
    • Windows Server and Linux administration.
    • Virtualization technologies (VMware & Hyper-V).
    • Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, or CompTIA Security+.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto Panorama
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
