*Medical Collections Specialist* *About the Role* We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive *Medical Collections Specialist* to join our revenue cycle team. In this role, you will take ownership of resolving rejected, denied, and outstanding insurance claims-playing a critical part in ensuring timely reimbursement and financial accuracy. Success requires strong research skills, persistence, and effective communication with internal teams and third-party payers.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and enjoys solving complex billing challenges that directly impact organizational performance. ***This is a 10 week contract opportunity*** *Key Responsibilities* * Manage assigned accounts receivable by performing insurance follow-ups and collections to accelerate claim resolution and payment. * Research, resolve, and correct denied or rejected claims, including issues related to documentation, credentialing, and payer-specific submission requirements. * Communicate with insurance carriers via phone, mail, and clearinghouse correspondence to resolve inquiries and update claim information. * Partner with verification teams and field staff to address patient benefit discrepancies and claim-related issues. * Collaborate proactively with third-party payers to resolve processing issues, improve communication, and stay current on plan and policy changes. * Support continuous improvement by identifying trends, recommending process enhancements, and assisting in the refinement of billing policies and procedures. * Prepare and contribute to monthly reports highlighting payer trends, key performance indicators, and unit performance, with a focus on improving metrics such as *Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)*. * Process insurance appeals by compiling required documentation, resubmitting claims, and following up to ensure timely resolution. * Maintain strict compliance with *HIPAA* and *CMS* guidelines in all systems, communications, and documentation. * Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals. *Required Skills & Expertise* * 3+ years of Medical collections and insurance claims resolution - experience with therapy claims highly preferred * Billing collections and accounts receivable follow-up * Experience working with EMR systems * Knowledge of hospital or healthcare billing workflows * Understanding of insurance benefit coordination and credentialing * High School Diploma * NextGen experience preferred *Why Join Us* * Make a measurable impact on revenue cycle performance * Collaborate with knowledgeable, supportive healthcare professionals * Gain exposure to payer strategy, analytics, and process improvement * Grow your expertise in medical billing and insurance operations *Job Type & Location* This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
