Data Center Operations Engineer Location: Etna, OH \| OnSite \| MissionCritical Environment As a Data Center Operations Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of a missioncritical data center supporting enterpriseclass systems. Role Summary We're seeking an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to support and maintain all physical and environmental aspects of our data center in Etna, Ohio. This role requires deep handson experience with power, cooling, hardware, monitoring tools, and operational best practices. You'll work independently to troubleshoot issues, perform hardware installs, optimize the environment, and ensure the data center operates efficiently and securely at all times. Core Responsibilities Data Center Operations * Oversee daily operations of a missioncritical data center environment * Perform hardware installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and decommissioning * Ensure physical infrastructure meets uptime, performance, and security standards Power & Cooling / Environmental Management * Maintain and troubleshoot UPS systems, cooling systems, HVAC, and aisle containment * Monitor and optimize power distribution and redundancy * Respond to environmental alerts and perform rootcause analysis Monitoring & Tools * Use SiteScan and other DC monitoring tools to track environmental and operational health * Interpret alerts, respond to incidents, and maintain system stability Network & Infrastructure Support * Support basic network troubleshooting: switches, routers, cabling, and connectivity * Coordinate with networking teams on escalations as needed Operational Excellence * Maintain documentation, logs, and inventory * Follow established SOPs and contribute to continuous improvement * Participate in oncall rotation and occasional weekend work Required Qualifications * 5+ years experience in data center operations or similar technical role * Handson experience with server/storage hardware installation and troubleshooting * Strong understanding of power, cooling, HVAC, and UPS systems * In-depth knowledge of SiteScan and other monitoring platforms * Familiarity with network hardware and basic network protocols * Strong analytical, problemsolving, and pressure-handling skills * Clear communication and ability to work both independently and in a team * Availability for oncall and occasional weekend support Preferred Qualifications * Certifications such as CompTIA Server+ or equivalent * Experience with virtualization (VMware, HyperV) or cloud environments * Knowledge of industry standards such as TIA942 and ASHRAE * Bonus: Experience supporting IT in retail environments Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pataskala, OH. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
