LRI Purdy Transfer Station, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a fulltime Laborer to support operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient site for the community members who rely on our services. The work is highly physical, performed outdoors yearround, and requires strong customer service skills, reliability, and a commitment to safety.

You'll work in a busy outdoor industrial environment that can be dusty, muddy, wet, cold, hot, and occasionally odorous. As a visible representative of Waste Connections, you'll interact with customers daily while supporting an essential public service. This is a longterm career role with a stable company that values growth, professionalism, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support

  • Perform assigned labor duties at the transfer station and compost facility

  • Conduct general site cleanup, housekeeping, and debris management

  • Assist with maintaining site systems related to stormwater, landfill gas, and leachate control

Equipment & Traffic Management

  • Operate small equipment as needed to support daily operations

  • Flag and direct incoming traffic safely and efficiently

  • Maintain safe vehicle and customer flow throughout the facility

Customer & Community Interaction

  • Provide friendly, professional customer service to all site visitors

  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding site rules, safety, and procedures

  • Represent Waste Connections as a trusted and helpful member of the community

Environmental & Safety Awareness

  • Work outdoors on your feet for the full shift in varying weather and environmental conditions

  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of accountability and safe practices

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience

  • At least one year of consistent work experience, ideally in a role involving customer service

  • Demonstrated ability to perform very physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly

  • Ability to work outdoors yearround in environments that may be dusty, smelly, muddy, cold, or hot

  • Strong communication skills and a positive, teamoriented attitude

  • Excellent attendance and reliability are essential

LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Driver's License: Required, with a safe and responsible driving record

  • Safety Sensitive Position: This role is designated as Safety Sensitive

  • PreEmployment Screening: Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen and a preemployment background check

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform sustained physical labor in a dynamic industrial environment, including lifting, bending, standing, and working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Work Environment Expectations: Must be able to work safely and effectively in a hightraffic facility serving the public and local community

Compensation & Schedule

  • This position follows a fixed Thursday-Monday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and weekend availability is required. Please apply only if you can commit to this set schedule.

  • Overtime opportunities are available based on operational needs.

  • Starting pay ranges from $21.00 to $23.00 per hour, with annual performancebased increases.
